4 x 100 Boys relay team sets personal best!

The boys and girls finished out the regular season strong at the Phoenix Christian Twilight Classic Invitational. New comer Ian Serdenia qualified for state in the 100m and helped propel the 4x100 team to a first place finish and a state qualifying time and not to mention one of the fastest time posted in 2A this year (44.88). Anthony Aceves posted his usual great times by winning three of his four events and placing second in the other. He has now pre-qualified for state in seven different events for state. Finally qualifying for state in the 100m and the 4x100m was Derrick Stanberry. He ran his personal best time of 11.69 in the 100m. The boy’s team looks very strong to compete for a region title. The girl’s team did very well on Wednesday night. Aleksandra Bogdonavich threw her personal best in the discus throw with 81” 10”. She is right in the mix to win the region title. Brittany Marshall and Kim Ortega also had strong performances. The Regional meet is at Valley Christian on May 9, 2009 followed by the State Championships at Mesa Community College on May 15^th and 16^th. Come support your Warrior track team.

2A West Honors Three Westwind Student-Athletes The 2A West Region announced their All-Region Basketball Teams yesterday. Three members of our basketball program have been selected. 2009 2A West Boys Basketball All-League Team Nico Barth, Class of 2010 Donovan Christensen, Class of 2010 Johnny Apadaca, Class of 2010 In addition Gary Trousdale was named 2009 2A West Coach of the Year for the second year in a row. 2008-2009 Capped off the best season in school history finishing 27-4, the 2A West Co-Champions and ranked 2nd in the Arizona Republic final rankings. ,
